Softfootball understands that Carlo Ancelotti is preparing to include Gabriel Sara in the preliminary squad for Brazil’s upcoming international friendlies, as revealed on the official X handle of transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The call-up comes after Bruno Guimarães suffered a hamstring injury that is expected to sideline the Newcastle United midfielder for around two months. The injury has forced Brazil’s coaching staff to look for alternative midfield options ahead of the March fixtures.
Romano reported:
Following Bruno Guimarães injury, Brazil are set to include Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara into their pre list for March. Ancelotti’s pre list will be announced soon, then final decision will follow. Gabriel Sara and Rayan, expected to be in as @cahemota reported.
Sara, who currently plays for Galatasaray, has been in excellent form this season. The 26-year-old Brazilian midfielder has recorded five goals and seven assists in 25 league matches, performances that have attracted attention from the national team setup and potentially earned him his first senior call-up.

The midfielder joined Galatasaray from Norwich City in 2024 in a deal worth around €25 million, and has quickly established himself as a key figure in the Turkish side’s midfield.
His impressive displays were highlighted during Galatasaray’s 1–0 victory over Liverpool, where he delivered a standout performance by completing 33 passes, creating five key chances and winning several duels during his 87 minutes on the pitch.

Reports also suggest that Rayan Aït-Nouri could be among the players considered for inclusion as Ancelotti continues experimenting with new options.
The Italian coach, who took charge of the Brazil national football team in 2025, is aiming to blend experienced stars with emerging talents as part of the squad’s preparation for future international tournaments. Brazil are expected to announce their final squad list on March 16.
