Wolfsburg have confirmed the departure of assistant coach Tobias Holm, a move that followed after they confirmed the return of Dieter Hecking as head coach on March 8, 2026, marking a dramatic comeback for the experienced German manager, nearly a decade after his first spell at the club.Softfootball reports.

The club continued a major restructuring of its technical staff amid a difficult season in the Bundesliga.

The announcement was made through the club’s official X account, with Wolfsburg expressing gratitude to Holm for his work despite his short spell with the team.

They posted:

Tobias Holm is also leaving VfL. Thank you for your commitment. We wish you all the best! #VfLWolfsburg

The 36-year-old coach had only joined the club in November 2025, where he played a role in implementing tactical sessions, often working with the squad in a 4-3-3 system during training.

Holm’s departure follows a series of leadership changes at the club after a run of disappointing results. Wolfsburg have managed just one win in their last 10 league matches, leaving them deep in the relegation battle with 18 points from 24 games this season.

The shake-up began with the removal of sporting director Peter Christiansen, quickly followed by the dismissal of head coach Daniel Bauer hours later. The club’s board appears determined to reset the sporting structure in hopes of improving performances during the final stretch of the campaign.

Elsewhere, Alphonso Davies suffered another muscular injury during FC Bayern Munich’s 6–1 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League, raising fresh concerns after the defender had only recently returned from a hamstring problem.
