Barcelona’s iconic trio is widely regarded as among the best midfielders of their generation, forming the backbone of a team that dominated European football. With personal ties to Barcelona from his own playing days, Arteta is confident he sees parallels between his two Arsenal stars and the legendary Spanish midfielders.

Odegaard and Saka have been instrumental for Arsenal in recent matches. Addressing their connection in a press conference, Arteta reflected on how special such chemistry is within a team.

“I’ve seen it between center-backs and midfielders, but I always think of Barcelona with Xavi, Busquets, and Iniesta—it was unbelievable,” Arteta said. “They didn’t even need to look at each other. That natural chemistry is rare and invaluable.”

Arteta further explained how the duo’s relationship could elevate Arsenal’s game. “The more you develop these connections, the better the team becomes. It’s not something you can quantify, but it’s a game-changer.”

The Arsenal boss also touched on Saka’s evolution, recalling how he deployed the young talent as a left-back in his managerial debut against Bournemouth in 2019.

“Over time, I began to understand his skillset and the unique dynamics he brought to the team,” Arteta explained. “It became clear that left-back wasn’t his long-term position. The team needed more creativity and attacking threats, and I saw that Saka could deliver those moments.”

Arteta detailed Saka’s transition to more advanced roles, first on the left wing and later on the right. “We saw him thrive naturally in those positions. Now, he plays a massive role in the team, deciding matches and becoming a critical part of our success.”

Odegaard and Saka’s fine form is key to Arsenal’s ambitions, and Arteta’s praise underscores their importance in the Gunners’ pursuit of glory.
