Fabian Hurzeler is determined to break Brighton’s curse against Fulham as they face off in the Premier League on Thursday night.

Despite Brighton’s solid form, Fulham has dominated their previous meetings, with Brighton failing to secure a victory in eight encounters. Fulham has won four of these games, and the most recent clash saw them cruise to a 3-0 win.

Hurzeler is approaching the match as an opportunity to end that streak, telling reporters, “I see this as an opportunity to stop this statistic and make it look better for the Brighton fans.” However, Hurzeler will be forced to watch from the sidelines due to a ban for accumulating three yellow cards.

Reflecting on his absence, Hurzeler said, “I’ve experienced this once in the Bundesliga, and it’s not the best feeling, but it’s a fair punishment, and I’ll learn from it.” Despite not being on the touchline, he has full confidence in his assistant coaches, Andrew Crofts and Jonas Scheuermann. “It’s never a one-man show,” Hurzeler said, stressing the importance of teamwork, both on and off the field.

Looking ahead to the match, Hurzeler acknowledged the challenge Fulham presents. “They’re a very good team, great in possession, with strong individual players improving every game,” he remarked. “They play with compactness and aggression, and their tight, intense stadium will make it a tough match. Marco Silva has done a great job with them, and I have a lot of respect for him and his work.”
