Speaking to ESPN, Leboeuf highlighted Amorim’s decision to change the team’s formation after conceding twice in the second half.
He argued that the manager should have relied on the players’ pride and resilience instead of overhauling the structure mid-game.
Fans were equally disappointed, particularly with the substitution of Bruno Fernandes for Mason Mount in the 76th minute. Critics argued that removing Fernandes, the captain and key playmaker, diminished United’s chances of mounting a comeback.
Physical and Mental Weaknesses
Leboeuf also drew attention to Manchester United’s lack of physical and mental strength, which allowed Nottingham Forest to dictate the second half. The team struggled to withstand pressure, raising concerns about their competitiveness for the rest of the season.
United’s inability to handle Forest’s intensity highlights broader issues within the squad, with several players deemed inadequate for the club’s high standards. This lack of resilience could lead to further struggles if not addressed promptly.
Challenges Ahead for Ruben Amorim
Ruben Amorim, who recently took over as head coach, now faces increasing pressure to adapt to the Premier League. With two losses in his first four games, his tactical decisions are under scrutiny, and fans are demanding immediate improvements.
Amorim’s next matches, including a Europa League clash and a Premier League encounter against Manchester City, will test his ability to rally the team and implement effective changes.
If these challenges are not met, questions about his long-term suitability for the role may grow louder
