Liverpool loanee Ben Doak is making waves in the Championship, with former Manchester United and Middlesbrough defender Gary Pallister declaring him the league’s most dangerous player.

The 19-year-old Scotland international joined Middlesbrough on loan this season and has become a key figure in Michael Carrick’s squad. Doak has made 14 league appearances, starting 12 of them, contributing one goal and five assists. Despite modest stats, his tenacity and creativity have set him apart.
Pallister praised the young winger’s fearless approach, telling bonuscodebets.co.uk: “I like everything about him. He’s tenacious, drives at defenders, and isn’t afraid to get back up after a knock. He’s a real threat, and probably the most dangerous player in the Championship right now.”
However, Pallister voiced concern over Liverpool’s ability to recall Doak in January, fearing the impact it could have on Middlesbrough’s promotion push.
Currently fifth in the Championship table, Middlesbrough is in the thick of a competitive promotion race. They are seven points off the automatic spots and just one point ahead of seventh-placed Watford. Despite inconsistency, Pallister believes Carrick has brought some of the best football Boro fans have ever seen.
“Under Michael, I’ve seen some of the best football from a Middlesbrough team,” Pallister said. “Even in the Championship, their play is attractive and expressive. Fans are loving it, though they’ve lost six games already.”
Carrick’s influence extends beyond the pitch, with his managerial style earning him links to Premier League clubs like West Ham and Tottenham. Pallister also noted whispers of Carrick being considered for Manchester United in the past, citing his composed, intelligent approach to the game.
As Middlesbrough fights to solidify its place in the playoffs—and potentially aim higher—Doak’s influence remains crucial. Yet, his future could hinge on whether Liverpool opts to recall him in the January transfer window.
