Despite winning all their league-phase games so far, this fixture presents a unique set of obstacles.

First, the long 8-hour flight to Kazakhstan, followed by harsh winter conditions, will make it a tough outing for Chelsea.

The match is scheduled for 3:30pm UK time (8:30pm local), a result of the five-hour time difference.

This timing allows Chelsea’s players to avoid jet lag and treat the game as an early afternoon match, easing their adjustment to the local time zone.

Additionally, the weather forecast predicts a bone-chilling -11C, which will add further complications to the contest.

Kazakhstan’s domestic football season runs from spring to late autumn, wrapping up in November due to the extreme cold.

UEFA has also given Chelsea the green light to hold their press conference and final training session back at Cobham, meaning they won’t need to acclimatize in Kazakhstan before the match.

Coach Enzo Maresca has hinted at making changes, managing his squad carefully for the quick turnaround ahead of Sunday’s match against Brentford.

“We have many young players, and some will stay behind while others will join us. We must balance the team for this long journey and the next match,” said Maresca.

The big news is that Josh Acheampong is set to make his first start for Chelsea, with Maresca confirming the young talent is ready to step up in this demanding match.

Meanwhile, Noni Madueke will stay behind, a decision made to ensure the squad is fully prepared for the upcoming Premier League match.
