The Blues, under head coach Enzo Maresca, have been a surprise package, sitting second in the league after 15 games.
They are currently two points ahead of third-place Arsenal and four points clear of fourth-place Manchester City, both of whom were expected to be stronger title contenders at the start of the campaign.
With Chelsea just four points behind leaders Liverpool, many pundits are now considering them serious contenders.
However, both Maresca and his squad have been careful not to get carried away. Sancho, currently on loan at Chelsea from Manchester United, echoed this sentiment in a recent interview with Sky Sports.
“We’re taking it game by game,” Sancho explained. “Every match is tough, and there’s still a long way to go.
None of the lads are thinking about anything beyond the next game. We’re happy to be in this position, but we have to stay focused.”
Asked about the external noise regarding Chelsea’s title chances, Sancho confirmed, “That’s exactly what the team is saying to each other – we haven’t achieved anything yet.”
Sancho also pointed out a key advantage Chelsea have this season: their participation in the UEFA Conference League.
He highlighted how the competition has given Maresca the opportunity to rotate the squad, ensuring players remain fresh throughout the season. “We can rotate at any time,” Sancho said.
“We have two or three players for each position, which helps with the demands of both the Premier League and Conference League. Maintaining the right balance of playing time is crucial for keeping everyone fit and ready.”
