Kylian Mbappe has been named France’s Footballer of the Season, but the PSG star humbly admitted that Arsenal’s William Saliba might have been more deserving of the award.

Mbappe enjoyed a brilliant campaign, scoring 52 goals across all competitions, helping PSG clinch the French league and cup double, and guiding them to the Champions League semi-finals.

His impressive performance earned him 56 points in the France Football vote, five more than second-place Saliba.

Saliba, who has become a cornerstone of the French national team’s defense, had another standout year at Arsenal, continuing his rise as one of Europe’s top defenders.

Mbappe praised his teammate, saying, “You have to be fair, William Saliba would also have deserved to win this trophy.”

Looking ahead, Mbappe’s form for Real Madrid will be under scrutiny as he faces challenges in his new club.

Currently, he is sidelined for Madrid’s upcoming La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano due to injury, though midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is back from his own injury and ready for selection.

Ancelotti confirmed that Mbappe’s injury isn’t serious, though he will miss Saturday’s game. The French forward will travel to Qatar for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final, where his fitness will be reassessed.

Mbappe, who joined Madrid on a free transfer from PSG, has scored nine goals in 15 La Liga matches this season, but Ancelotti expressed confidence that the injury won’t derail his progress.
