Despite being just 17, Yamal has already achieved extraordinary feats, including winning La Liga with Barcelona and the European Championship with Spain.
Last season, Yamal netted seven goals for Barcelona and quickly established himself as a regular in the first team.
This campaign, the teenager has already scored six goals, further solidifying his position as one of the brightest young talents in football.
However, an ankle injury has temporarily sidelined him, raising concerns about his immediate future.
Jorge Mendes, who also represents Yamal, sees limitless potential in the youngster. Speaking to Marca, Mendes said, “Cristiano Ronaldo is the best in history—unique.
But if there’s someone who could be like him in the future, it’s Lamine Yamal. He has the most talent and the best chance to do great things. He could win several Ballon d’Ors.”
Mendes also reassured fans that Yamal’s commitment to Barcelona remains unwavering.
While his current contract runs until 2026, a renewal is on the horizon. “He wants to stay at Barcelona for many years,” Mendes added confidently.
Despite his meteoric rise, Yamal’s career has hit a small hurdle with a significant ankle injury.
Dr. Pedro Luis Ripoll, a renowned specialist, explained that Yamal is dealing with a rare injury—a slight tear in the syndesmosis membrane that connects the tibia and fibula. “It’s not a typical sprain.
This injury makes the prognosis much more uncertain,” Ripoll told Cadena SER.
Barcelona is expected to proceed cautiously with Yamal’s recovery, ensuring he heals completely to avoid long-term issues.
While the injury may temporarily sideline him, fans and experts alike remain optimistic about the young star’s ability to bounce back and fulfill his immense potential.
Lamine Yamal may be out for now, but if his trajectory continues, he could one day stand alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in football’s pantheon of greats.
