Atalanta delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday, overwhelming Cesena with a 6-1 victory to book their place in the quarter-finals of this season’s Coppa Italia.

Despite the absence of newly crowned CAF Player of the Year, Ademola Lookman, the Bergamo-based side showcased their attacking prowess.
Lazar Samardzic and Charles De Ketelaere led the charge with two goals each, while Davide Zappacosta and Marco Brescianini also added their names to the scoresheet.
Cesena’s lone consolation came late, as Joseph Ceesay struck in the 90th minute.
Atalanta, runners-up in last season’s Coppa Italia after a narrow 1-0 loss to Juventus, continue their quest to replicate their lone triumph in the competition, achieved during the 1962/1963 campaign.
