Former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam has called on the club to secure the services of Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies.

Jaap Stam believes Alphonso Davies would significantly enhance Manchester United’s squad, especially given the Canadian’s adaptability and experience at the highest level.
While United have seen moments of promise from Noussair Mazraoui, Luke Shaw’s injury and Diogo Dalot’s struggles in Amorim’s system underline the need for a dynamic player like Davies. Out of contract at season’s end, Davies has attracted Real Madrid’s attention, but Stam insists United should act decisively.
Highlighting his qualities, Stam remarked, “He’s so fast, good on the ball, and versatile. These types of players make a difference.”
Dalot’s Role and Squad Consistency
Stam cautioned against selling Diogo Dalot, emphasizing the Portuguese defender’s improvement and importance to United’s balance. He argued that pairing Davies on the left with Dalot on the right would provide the team with the consistency and dominance needed to achieve success.
“Selling Dalot would be a mistake. He’s quick, versatile, and defensively stronger than before,” Stam added. This combination, according to Stam, could set the foundation for sustained victories and trophies under Amorim’s reign
