Paul Pogba is gearing up for a return to football after a turbulent period. Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi has hinted at offering the midfielder a fresh start, reigniting hopes for the 2018 World Cup winner.

Pogba’s career faced a major setback in August last year when he tested positive for testosterone, leading to the maximum penalty from Italy’s anti-doping court.

However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport later reduced his ban, ruling the positive test was unintentional. It was attributed to an incorrectly prescribed supplement from a doctor in Florida.

Despite the reduction, Juventus and Pogba mutually agreed to terminate his contract. The French star, who turns 32 in March, will be eligible to play again that same month.

De Zerbi addressed the speculation at a press conference on Friday: “I want champions in my team. Pogba has always been a champion, but we haven’t discussed him yet. If champions are coming, we’ll find space for him.”

Adrien Rabiot, Pogba’s former teammate and now a Marseille player, also expressed his desire for a reunion.

“I’d love to play with Paul again,” Rabiot told DAZN. “He’s welcome at Marseille. We’re building something great here, and we have big ambitions.”
