Ruud van Nistelrooy has announced that Jamie Vardy is an injury concern for Leicester City’s upcoming Premier League showdown against Liverpool on Boxing Day.

The 37-year-old striker, who has netted six Premier League goals this season, played the entire 90 minutes in Leicester’s 3-0 defeat to Wolves on Sunday.
However, Vardy may miss Thursday’s trip to Anfield, with Van Nistelrooy stating the player’s condition will be evaluated over the next two days.
“We have to monitor Jamie,” Van Nistelrooy said on Christmas Eve. “He picked up some knocks, so we’ll assess him today and tomorrow to see if he’s ready. I don’t want to divulge personal medical details, but I’m optimistic it’s a minor issue.”
Van Nistelrooy also confirmed that Mads Hermansen is unlikely to feature in the Liverpool match. The goalkeeper was substituted at halftime during Leicester’s 4-0 defeat to Newcastle on December 14 and has since missed the Wolves match, with Danny Ward stepping in as the starting goalkeeper.
“It’s about his progress and recovery,” Van Nistelrooy explained. “He’s improving daily, but we won’t rush his return. When he’s fully fit, he’ll perform for the team.
For now, we’re evaluating him daily, and I’m confident he’ll be back soon, though I can’t specify when.”
The manager hinted at alternative options, mentioning Jak Stolarczyk’s recent return to action with the Under-21s. “Jak has played his first game back, so we’ll decide in the coming days who will step up.”
