The 24-year-old midfielder was substituted during Fulham’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on December 14 and missed the goalless draw against Southampton last Sunday due to injury.
Smith Rowe, who has contributed three goals and two assists this season, may return for the Chelsea match or Fulham’s home game against Bournemouth on December 29.
Speaking on Christmas Eve, Silva said, “Let’s see if he’s going to be ready for Chelsea or Bournemouth. We believe he’ll be back soon, but it’s a decision we’ll have to make closer to the time.”
Fulham is also facing uncertainty over the availability of Sander Berge and Sasa Lukic. Both players are undergoing assessments ahead of the trip to Stamford Bridge.
Silva acknowledged the challenges of the busy schedule, saying, “Games are coming thick and fast. There’s little time to prepare or recover players between matches.
“This part of the season has been tough with injuries, suspensions, and absences, but we’re not making excuses. We’ll assess the players and make final decisions tomorrow.”
