Silva’s career spanned across Brazil, Italy, and France, before he joined Chelsea in the 2020-21 season. Despite a shaky start, he quickly proved himself as one of the top defenders of his era.

At almost 40 years old, Silva remained a key figure at Chelsea, winning Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year in 2023. After leaving Chelsea at the end of last season, he returned to Fluminense, his childhood club.

Madueke, at just 22, has already played alongside numerous top-tier players for both club and country. He’s firmly established himself in Chelsea’s squad and made his mark with England this year.

He’s firmly established himself in Chelsea’s squad and made his mark with England this year. Reflecting on his time with Silva, Madueke shared his admiration during an interview with Amazon Prime Video.

“The best player I’ve played with? It has to be Thiago Silva,” Madueke said. “He’s unbelievable. There were times in training when I’d think, ‘He’s twice my age, and he can still take the ball off me.’ I’m confident with the ball at my feet, so it was incredible to see.”

He continued to praise Silva’s leadership and technical prowess, calling it “mad” and describing his skills in training as “unbelievable.” Silva not only mentored Madueke but also became a great captain, offering constant encouragement.

Silva played a pivotal role in Chelsea’s 2021 Champions League triumph, helping the team secure a clean sheet in the final against Manchester City.

As for the future, Ian Wright believes Chelsea could take their game to the next level by signing a player with the qualities of a younger Silva. “Imagine a 32-year-old Silva in this team,” Wright said. “It would be on another level.”

Chelsea, currently second in the Premier League, could greatly benefit from a player with Silva’s experience and leadership.
