The agent of Manchester United winger Antony has revealed that several clubs are interested in signing the Brazilian, but the Red Devils reportedly have no plans to part ways with him during the January transfer window.
Antony arrived at Old Trafford in 2022 for a staggering £82 million, following Erik ten Hag from Ajax with high expectations.
However, the 24-year-old has struggled to make an impact, scoring only five Premier League goals over two-and-a-half underwhelming seasons.
His struggles continued under new manager Ruben Amorim, who started him in the Carabao Cup clash against Tottenham.
Antony was substituted after just 55 minutes with United trailing 3-0, further fueling speculation about his future at the club.
As the January transfer window approaches, Antony’s name has been linked to an exit. Speaking to GiveMeSport, his agent Junior Pedroso confirmed the interest.
“Yes, many clubs have approached us for Antony’s move in January,” Pedroso stated. “These clubs wanted to understand Antony’s situation, so I can confirm there’s concrete interest.”
Despite this, Pedroso clarified that Manchester United has shown no inclination to sell or loan out Antony.
“To be fair, Manchester United have never expressed any interest in selling or loaning Antony out,” Pedroso said.
“We’ve received no communication suggesting the club wants Antony to leave. His future is still tied to United’s interests.”
Pedroso left the door open for a potential loan move, adding, “If the club believes a loan is a good idea to give Antony more minutes and rebuild confidence, we will consider it. But Antony is working hard to regain his place under Ruben Amorim.”
Meanwhile, critics have been vocal about Antony’s performances. Former Premier League striker Troy Deeney didn’t hold back in his criticism, suggesting United should part ways with the winger.
“They’ve got to cut ties with him,” Deeney said on CBS Sports after United’s Carabao Cup loss. “Watching him is frustrating. He doesn’t run, he doesn’t sprint… just get him out. If you’re moving on from Rashford, throw Antony in the deal and pay someone to take him.”
While Antony’s future remains uncertain, Manchester United seems hesitant to make any rash decisions. With Amorim set to reshape his squad in the coming months, Antony’s ability to adapt and deliver under the new regime could determine his fate at Old Trafford.
Maybe the club want him to try another club
