Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher was named Player of the Match in the Republic of Ireland’s 2-0 loss to Greece, despite making a critical error in injury time. Greece opened the scoring in the first half with a goal from captain Tasos Bakasetas, while Kelleher made several important saves to keep Ireland in contention.

However, in the closing moments, Kelleher’s loose pass was intercepted by Petros Mantalos, who scored the second goal for Greece. After the match, Ireland striker Troy Parrott expressed support for Kelleher, saying, “Everyone makes mistakes, and Caoimh doesn’t make many. He’s strong enough mentally to deal with it.”

Ireland head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson commented on the situation, noting, “Football is a team sport until a goalkeeper makes a mistake. We were getting the ball into dangerous positions, but we started too late to believe in ourselves.”
