Manchester United’s pursuit of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has encountered a roadblock, with Galatasaray reportedly adamant about retaining their star player until the end of the season.

Despite interest from the Premier League giants, Galatasaray’s firm stance, coupled with United’s financial constraints, complicates any potential transfer.

Victor Osimhen’s remarkable form at Galatasaray has made him a highly sought-after striker in Europe. Since joining the Turkish club on loan from Napoli, Osimhen has scored 10 league goals in 12 matches and added three more in Europa League action.

Despite a reported break clause in his loan agreement allowing Napoli to sell him for £62 million in January, Galatasaray remains confident the Nigerian striker will stay.

Sources suggest no negotiations for Osimhen’s transfer have taken place, and the club is “100 per cent convinced” he will remain through the winter window.

Manchester United has identified Osimhen as an ideal addition to bolster their attack but faces financial hurdles. After spending over £180 million in the summer and recouping just under £90 million from sales, the club must offload players to fund a high-profile transfer.

Potential outgoings include Marcus Rashford and Casemiro, both of whom are on significant wages. Rashford, who has fallen out of favor under manager Ruben Amorim, could be part of a swap deal with Napoli to reduce Osimhen’s transfer cost.

However, United’s asking price for Rashford and his weekly wages of £325,000 have deterred potential suitors, complicating efforts to finalize a deal.

With Galatasaray’s confidence and United’s financial constraints, the likelihood of Osimhen moving to Old Trafford in January appears slim.
