Thomas Tuchel has been urged to place Chelsea’s rising star Cole Palmer at the center of his plans for England’s future.

Appointed in October as Gareth Southgate’s successor, Tuchel officially began his England managerial role this January.

The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss has been actively scouting Premier League games, carefully considering his squad selection for the upcoming March international break.

Tuchel inherits a solid foundation from Southgate’s tenure imarked by strong Euro performances, and Lee Carsley’s interim leadership, which introduced fresh talent to the senior setup.

However, Chris Waddle, a former England international, insists that Palmer should be at the forefront of Tuchel’s vision.

Palmer’s rapid ascent at Chelsea last season earned him a spot in England’s Euro 2024 squad, although his game time in the tournament was limited. This season, he has exploded onto the scene with 13 goals and six assists in 20 appearances, making him one of England’s brightest young talents.

Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden have previously vied for the number ten role, but Waddle believes Palmer has now claimed it as his own.

“Cole Palmer is a unique talent,” Waddle said in an interview with Prime Casino. “He has an exceptional eye for the creative side of the game, which is the hardest aspect of football. His performances at Chelsea have been outstanding, and he’s a consistent goal scorer.”

Waddle further emphasized the importance of building around Palmer: “Tuchel would be making a mistake not to center the team around him. While Bellingham is a great player, Palmer’s vision and creativity set him apart.

England’s midfield is strong, but Palmer brings something special. He’s the key to unlocking England’s potential in tournaments.”

As Tuchel prepares for the World Cup, Palmer’s unique abilities could become the cornerstone of a dynamic and competitive England team.
