Morecambe FC forward Jordan Slew has sounded a warning to Chelsea ahead of their highly anticipated FA Cup third-round clash at Stamford Bridge this Saturday.

Despite Morecambe’s struggles in League Two, Slew remains confident about the Shrimps’ chances of pulling off an unforgettable upset against the Premier League heavyweights.

The 32-year-old has been in impressive form this season, scoring in Morecambe’s 2-0 first-round win over Worthing and securing victory in their second-round match against Bradford City.

Now, he aims to add Chelsea to the list, with Morecambe eyeing their first-ever FA Cup fourth-round appearance in the club’s 105-year history.

Slew is relishing the challenge and sees Chelsea’s recent four-match winless streak as an opportunity. “The pressure’s on them,” he stated. “They have better quality than us, that’s standard. But it only takes one moment to change everything. We’re going there to work extremely hard and try to create some cheer for our fans.”

The Shrimps will be buoyed by a strong turnout of 3,000 travelling supporters, ready to back their team in west London. Slew acknowledged the significance of the occasion for both players and fans.

“It’s been tough for them in the league, so getting to the third round and facing a big side like Chelsea is fantastic. Hopefully, we can give them something to celebrate.”

Reflecting on the challenge, Slew added, “If I play, I’ll be up against some of the best players in the world. But if I get a chance, I hope to take it—it’d be three goals in three for me.”

While Chelsea, fourth in the Premier League, enters the match as overwhelming favorites, Morecambe sees this as a “free hit” and a chance to defy the odds. The Shrimps’ previous FA Cup meeting with Chelsea in 2021 ended in a 4-0 defeat, but this year, the underdogs are determined to write a different story.

As excitement builds, all eyes will be on Stamford Bridge to see if Jordan Slew and his teammates can achieve what seems impossible—a giant-killing that will go down in FA Cup history.
