Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku has addressed speculation regarding a potential return to Paris Saint-Germain. Nkunku joined Chelsea in the summer of 2023 for £52 million from RB Leipzig, but rumors have emerged about him leaving the club.

PSG, where Nkunku began his career and made 78 appearances, is reportedly interested in signing the 26-year-old French international. When asked about PSG’s interest, Nkunku acknowledged their stature as a “big club” but stated that no official offer has been made.

“PSG remains a big club, but there has not been one approach,” Nkunku told French outlet Telefoot.

So far this season, Nkunku has scored seven goals in 11 matches for Chelsea and is under contract until June 30, 2029, having made 25 appearances for the club.

He has been competing for playing time with Nicolas Jackson, with head coach Enzo Maresca acknowledging the difficulty of fitting both players into the starting lineup.

“The problem is the defensive balance,” Maresca explained. “We can think to play with Nicolas, Christo, Joao, Cole Palmer, Noni [Madueke] – fantastic! But then who is defending? Me and you? I want to include them all, but when you lose the ball, you have to defend. Not all of them can defend at the same level.”

Chelsea’s next match is on Sunday against Liverpool at Anfield. The Blues currently sit fourth in the Premier League after their first seven matches of the 2024-25 season.
