Myles Lewis-Skelly showcased his fearless mindset during Arsenal’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Tottenham in Wednesday’s north London derby at the Emirates Stadium.

The 18-year-old, making just his fourth Premier League start this season, played a crucial role in a tense, high-stakes match.

Spurs took an early lead through Son Heung-min, but Arsenal equalized when Dominic Solanke accidentally deflected the ball into his own net from a corner. Leandro Trossard’s precise low strike just before halftime sealed the win for the Gunners.

Operating as a left-back, Lewis-Skelly delivered an impressive defensive performance, effectively handling challenges from Dejan Kulusevski and substitute Brennan Johnson.

When asked by Ian Wright if facing players of such caliber made him nervous, the young defender confidently stated, “Never. I want to face the best to become the best.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised Lewis-Skelly’s composure and maturity. “It’s rare to see an 18-year-old perform with such control and emotional stability in a major London derby,” Arteta remarked.

Former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey also applauded Lewis-Skelly’s standout performance. “You could see his confidence, and he backed it up with an exceptional display,” Ramsey noted. “Facing Kulusevski, one of Tottenham’s top threats, and emerging successful is an impressive feat.”

Ramsey emphasized the importance of savoring moments like these. “Big games like this don’t come often.
