Manchester City is on the brink of signing Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiaso, according to Italian reports. The 24-year-old defender, who graduated from Genoa’s academy, joined Juventus in 2022 for €8.5 million (£7.2m).
After a loan stint at Bologna, Cambiaso quickly became a key player for Juve last season. City and Juventus are close to finalizing a deal worth up to €65 million (£54.7m), as reported by Sky Sports Italy.
Although Juventus initially demanded €80 million (£67.3m), a compromise seems likely. The proposed agreement includes a five-year contract for Cambiaso, with an optional sixth year.
Despite his recent struggles with inflammation issues, Cambiaso has remained committed to playing and training.
Juventus manager Thiago Motta expressed his gratitude for Cambiaso’s efforts, highlighting his resilience during this challenging period.
“He’s been dealing with inflammation but continues to contribute. He performed exceptionally well after coming in, and we’re hopeful he’ll regain full fitness soon,” Motta shared.
Cambiaso, who has earned 13 caps for Italy and featured in three games during Euro 2024, remains a highly regarded talent. The defender signed a contract extension with Juventus last May, binding him to the club until 2029.
