Thomas Frank believes Liverpool are a step ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League title chase following Brentford’s 2-0 defeat to the league leaders on Saturday.

At the Gtech Community Stadium, Liverpool seemed set for a draw until Darwin Núñez struck in the first minute of added time, breaking the deadlock.

The Uruguayan forward, who had only scored once in his previous 12 games, added a second goal moments later, sealing a hard-fought victory for the visitors.

This crucial win pushes Liverpool seven points clear of second-placed Arsenal, who faced Aston Villa in the evening fixture.

After the match, Frank heaped praise on Liverpool, calling them the best team in the Premier League and possibly the world.

“Playing against a fantastic team, I believe Liverpool are currently the most complete side in the league,” Frank remarked. “They are top for a reason. Having faced Arsenal, Manchester City, and now Liverpool in a short span, it’s clear Liverpool are a level above the other two.”

Despite the loss, Frank was impressed by his team’s effort. “We defended really well and limited their big chances. At 0-0, it wouldn’t have been unfair, but Liverpool deserved their win. They had more possession and better opportunities,” he added.

Frank highlighted Liverpool’s sharpness in decisive moments, particularly their opening goal. “The ball dropped perfectly for them. We blocked the first shot, but it landed just right for Trent Alexander-Arnold to set up Núñez. If that ball had bounced differently, we might have cleared it, but Liverpool capitalized as top teams do.”

Liverpool’s tireless work ethic also stood out to Frank. “Virgil Van Dijk chasing back 60 yards to cover Bryan Mbeumo shows how hard they work. That’s what makes them so special,” he said.

Although Brentford created several chances, Frank acknowledged his side lacked the finishing touch. “We had some good opportunities but lacked sharpness and quality in the final moments. Liverpool defended exceptionally well, especially Konaté and Van Dijk, who were outstanding throughout,” Frank concluded.

Liverpool’s dominance against Brentford reaffirms their place as title favorites, further distancing themselves from Arsenal and showcasing their superiority in the league.
