Manchester City have announced the signing of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt. The 25-year-old has agreed to a four-and-a-half-year deal with the reigning Premier League champions.
The transfer, worth an initial £59.1 million with potential add-ons of £4.2 million, marks City’s third acquisition of the January transfer window, following defenders Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis.
Expressing his excitement, Marmoush said, “Joining Manchester City, one of the world’s best teams, is unforgettable. My family and I are overjoyed to start this new chapter.”
A versatile attacker, Marmoush has netted an impressive 37 goals in 67 matches since moving to Frankfurt in 2023.
When asked about his preferred position, he shared, “I’ve played in many roles—left wing, No. 9, No. 10, even as an eight. But I feel most comfortable as a No. 10, where I can create chances quickly.”
Beginning his career at Wadi Degla in Egypt, Marmoush moved to Wolfsburg in 2020 and had stints at St. Pauli and Stuttgart. Internationally, he has earned 35 caps for Egypt, scoring six goals.
Marmoush’s arrival comes as Manchester City face a challenging season. Currently fifth in the Premier League, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool, and struggling in the Champions League, the club is looking to revitalize their campaign.
City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, praised the new signing, saying, “Omar is an exciting forward with all the qualities of a top-class attacker. Working with Pep Guardiola and the team will undoubtedly elevate his game.”
For Marmoush, the chance to develop under Guardiola and compete for trophies was irresistible.
“City’s winning culture and facilities create the perfect environment for growth,” he said. “I’m eager to start, meet my teammates, and showcase my abilities to the fans.”
This signing brings City’s January spending to £122.5 million as they aim to reinforce their squad and chase success on all fronts.
