Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has stressed the urgent need for reinforcements, warning that failing to secure new signings before the transfer window closes would leave the club in a precarious position.
Spurs, currently 15th in the Premier League with only seven wins from 22 matches, are struggling through a challenging season.
While their performances in the Carabao Cup, Europa League, and FA Cup remain promising, their league form has been poor.
Compounding these struggles is an extensive injury list, with key players Dominic Solanke, Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, and Wilson Odobert all unavailable for Sunday’s clash with Leicester. Additionally, Pape Sarr, Djed Spence, Sergio Reguilon, and Yves Bissouma are doubtful.
Speaking at a press conference, Postecoglou emphasized the risks of inaction:
“This playing group needs help; there’s no doubt about that. We’re sort of playing with fire by not bringing anyone in, but the club is working to address it.”
With five matches scheduled over two weeks—including Sunday’s game against Leicester and an FA Cup trip to Aston Villa on February 9—Tottenham’s packed calendar intensifies the need for squad depth.
There is some positive news, as both Romero and Van de Ven have resumed training and could feature in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at Anfield on February 6.
However, Postecoglou remains firm: without fresh faces, Tottenham’s season could face even greater challenges.
