Chelsea and Arsenal are closely monitoring Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who has reportedly rejected a massive offer to leave for Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr. Despite declining the move, Vlahovic could still depart Turin before the January transfer window closes.
The 24-year-old Serbian forward joined Juventus in January 2022 for £66 million. Although he has scored 40 goals in 93 games, critics argue his performances have not met expectations.
This underachievement has fueled speculation about his future, with several Premier League clubs keen to secure his signature.
Chelsea and Arsenal, both aiming to strengthen their attacking options, have been heavily linked with Vlahovic.
Chelsea, dealing with Nicolas Jackson’s goal drought, are desperate for a clinical finisher. Jackson, who started the season strongly, has now gone over a month without scoring, leading many to question his ability to lead the Blues’ attack under Enzo Maresca.
Arsenal are in an equally precarious position. With Gabriel Jesus sidelined for the season and Kai Havertz their current top scorer with just eight goals, the Gunners are in dire need of reinforcements.
Former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos has encouraged the club to reignite their interest in Vlahovic, suggesting the striker could be the missing piece to Mikel Arteta’s title ambitions.
Senderos stated, “Vlahovic is a fantastic player who has proven himself in Serie A. He could provide the firepower Arsenal need to finally secure the Premier League title.”
Nigel Winterburn, another Arsenal legend, echoed these sentiments, naming Vlahovic as one of three strikers Arsenal should pursue alongside Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko.
Winterburn emphasized the importance of finding a reliable goalscorer to elevate Arsenal to championship contention.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is also exploring other options, including Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.
The Blues have been active in the market, with Renato Veiga departing on loan to Juventus and rumors circulating about potential exits for Joao Felix and Axel Disasi.
Vlahovic’s decision to reject Al-Nassr’s lucrative offer signals his desire to remain in Europe. Juventus’ recent 2-1 loss to Napoli saw Vlahovic come off the bench, highlighting uncertainty about his role in the squad.
As the January transfer window nears its conclusion, both Chelsea and Arsenal remain hopeful of securing a deal for Vlahovic to address their pressing needs for a top-tier striker.
