Manchester United are reportedly looking to offload Brazilian winger Antony following two difficult seasons at Old Trafford. The 23-year-old, who arrived from Ajax in 2022 for a staggering £85 million, has failed to live up to expectations and is now considered surplus to requirements.

Antony has managed just 12 goals in 85 appearances for the club, and his performances in his second season have been particularly disappointing. Currently fourth in the pecking order behind Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo, and Alejandro Garnacho, Antony has been restricted to a solitary start this season — a League Cup match against Barnsley, where he scored from the penalty spot in a 7-0 win.

United are reportedly keen to cash in on the winger, with the club’s financial situation exacerbated by their struggles to secure a place in next season’s Champions League. However, the club’s asking price of £40 million, as reported by the *Daily Mail*, may deter potential buyers, especially in Europe.

Antony’s hefty wages, reportedly around £150,000 a week, could also pose a challenge in finding suitors, with the Saudi Pro League emerging as a potential destination should he attract interest from clubs in the Middle East.

With four years remaining on his contract, United may face a tough task in offloading the Brazilian at their desired valuation unless a significant offer comes in.
