Cranes of Uganda head coach Paul Put has expressed excitement and determination ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as his team prepares to face a challenging Group C featuring Nigeria, Tunisia, and Tanzania.
Speaking after the draw, Put acknowledged the tough competition his team will face, highlighting the pedigree of their group rivals.
“There are no easy games in Africa. We are going to face Nigeria, the last edition’s finalists, and Tunisia, a team that consistently reaches the latter stages of this tournament,” said the Belgian tactician.
“Tanzania adds the derby element, which is always intense. However, we must believe in ourselves,” he added, urging his players to show confidence and fight on the field.
The Cranes will open their campaign against Tunisia on December 23, before facing regional rivals Tanzania in the highly anticipated East African derby.
They will conclude their group-stage matches with a clash against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on December 30.
Put emphasized the importance of preparation and self-belief as Uganda aims to make an impact in Morocco.
The Cranes will look to build on their previous AFCON experiences and give a strong account of themselves in a group stacked with football heavyweights.
For Uganda, this tournament represents a chance to showcase their growth and test themselves against Africa’s best teams.
