Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen attacker Nathan Tella has expressed frustration over his limited playing time this season, according to Soccernet.ng.

The 25-year-old joined Leverkusen from Southampton last season and played a key role in Xabi Alonso’s title-winning squad, although mostly as a substitute. Competing with Jonas Hoffman and Jeremie Frimpong for spots at right wing and right wing-back, Tella still managed to score six goals and provide five assists in 37 appearances, helping the team win the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal while narrowly missing out on the UEFA Europa League title.

This season, however, Tella has struggled to build on that success, facing fewer minutes on the pitch and sharing his frustration in a recent interview.

“It’s frustrating, I’ll be honest, but I spoke to the coach. He assured me that I’ll get opportunities and that I have to be patient. When I get a chance, I have to show myself. I think I’ve done well, and I also think I’m training well,” Tella told BILD, as quoted by UBK Football.

So far this season, Tella has made just three Bundesliga appearances, two as a substitute, playing only 224 minutes across all competitions. His lack of playing time has also contributed to his exclusion from the recent Super Eagles squad.
