Aston Villa are eyeing a move for Chelsea’s Joao Felix, with sporting director Monchi confirming the club’s interest but admitting a deal could be difficult.
Felix, who rejoined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid for £42 million last summer, has struggled to make an impact, registering just one goal and one assist in the Premier League. Reports suggest the Portuguese attacker is frustrated with his limited role under Enzo Maresca and is pushing for an exit.
With Jhon Duran set for a lucrative transfer to the Saudi Pro League, Villa view Felix as a prime candidate to replace him. Monchi acknowledged Felix has long been admired by Unai Emery, though Financial Fair Play constraints may complicate negotiations. The club must allocate a portion of Duran’s transfer fee to FFP compliance, limiting available funds.
Monchi also discussed other transfer targets, highlighting PSG’s Marco Asensio as another player Emery has pursued in the past. He admitted that signing elite talents like Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland, or Lamine Yamal would be ideal but financially unrealistic.
Meanwhile, Arsenal reportedly seek a striker rather than an attacking midfielder like Asensio. With limited game time at PSG, Asensio could emerge as a viable alternative for Villa should the Felix deal fall through.
