The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau MON, led a site inspection alongside National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko on Wednesday. The proposed NFF Hotel and a new training pitch will be located next to the NFF Headquarters within the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
The ambitious project aims to establish a top-tier accommodation facility dedicated to Nigeria’s national football teams. Since assuming office 28 months ago, Gusau has prioritized this initiative to eliminate the heavy financial burden of housing players and officials during national team engagements.
By cutting these expenses, the NFF plans to redirect funds toward talent development and football infrastructure improvements.
During the site visit, Gusau and Dikko assessed key aspects such as accessibility, security, and proximity to training facilities. They also discussed the project’s timeline, budget, and potential partnerships with private investors or corporate sponsors.
Accompanying them were senior NFF officials, including General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi and Technical Director Coach Augustine Eguavoen, along with NSC aides such as former NFF General Secretary Barr. Musa Amadu and Mallam Salihu Abubakar.
The NFF National Teams Hotel aligns with the NSC’s broader mission of enhancing sports development in Nigeria. As the country’s leading sports regulatory body, the NSC remains committed to initiatives that strengthen Nigeria’s sporting infrastructure and ensure long-term sustainability.
