Arsenal have been encouraged to make a sensational move for Harry Kane, with former England international Joe Cole claiming the Bayern Munich striker would be an ideal signing for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Kane, who left Tottenham for Bayern Munich in a £100m deal in August 2023, has continued his prolific goal-scoring form, netting 21 goals in 19 Bundesliga matches. His performances have propelled Bayern to an eight-point lead at the top of the table, bringing him closer to the first major trophy of his career.

However, despite his success in Germany, speculation about Kane’s long-term future has surfaced. Reports suggest that his contract includes a £54 million release clause that can be activated in January 2026, making him an appealing target for several top clubs. Manchester United have already been linked, and now Arsenal’s name has been thrown into the mix.

The Gunners have struggled to find a consistent goal-scorer, and their efforts to strengthen their attack in January were unsuccessful due to financial constraints. With a striker still a priority in upcoming transfer windows, Cole believes Kane could be the missing piece in Arteta’s tactical puzzle.

“I can see the logic in Harry Kane joining Arsenal—stranger things have happened,” Cole told Paddy Power. “He’s gone to Germany and kept doing what he does best—scoring goals. For Arsenal, he would be the final piece of the jigsaw.”

However, Cole acknowledged the significant rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham, which could make such a move highly controversial.

“I just can’t see it happening. There’s too much history between the two clubs. Sol Campbell moving from Spurs to Arsenal was one thing, but this would be even bigger. That said, from a footballing perspective, it makes perfect sense—he fits Arteta’s system perfectly.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal are expected to offload several players in the summer to fund new signings. Former winger Jermaine Pennant has named five players who could be shown the door, including Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jorginho, and Kieran Tierney, who have struggled for consistent game time.

“If they bring in a top striker, I could also see Kai Havertz or Gabriel Jesus leaving,” Pennant told Metro via NewBettingSites.UK. “Neither of them is hitting 15 goals a season, and Arsenal need someone who can.”

With the summer transfer window approaching, Arsenal fans will be eager to see whether the club pursues a move for Kane—or if another elite striker will emerge as their primary target.
