Ashleigh Plumptre Stars in Al Ittihad’s Dominant 13-1 Victory in SAFF Women’s Cup

    Nigerian defender Ashleigh Plumptre was instrumental in Al Ittihad’s impressive 13-1 victory over Jeddah in the SAFF Women’s Cup on Friday night, according to Soccernet.ng. In just her second match back from injury, Plumptre scored once and provided three assists, leading her team to their largest win since a 14-0 triumph over Albayraq in 2022.

    Playing as a central midfielder, Plumptre assisted Lili Iskandar for Al Ittihad’s second goal in the fourth minute before scoring to make it 5-0 just eleven minutes later. She added two more assists in the 29th and 45th minutes, helping Al Ittihad finish the first half with a staggering 9-0 lead before being substituted at halftime.

    In other matches, Joy Jerry scored a consolation goal for Al Riyadh, but they fell 2-1 to Al Ula, resulting in their exit from the SAFF Women’s Cup.

    Meanwhile, Super Eagles star Peter Olayinka assisted one of Red Star Belgrade’s goals in their 5-1 Serbian Super Liga victory over Radnički Niš. In Finland, Nigeria international Roosa Funmilayo Ariyo scored both goals in KUPS’s 2-0 away win against HPS in the Kansallinen Liiga relegation round.

    Lastly, Nigeria’s Adakole Benedict netted a late equalizer for Portimonense, but Sporting Lisbon snatched a stoppage-time winner to claim a 2-1 victory in the Taça de Portugal.
