Super Falcons interim coach Justine Madugu has announced a 25-player squad for two international friendlies against Algeria in Lagos. Missing from the list are notable names like Asisat Oshoala of Bay FC and Michelle Alozie of Houston Dash. However, Spain-based forward Gift Monday and team captain Rasheedat Ajibade will spearhead the squad, which includes a mix of home-based talents and promising young players.
The Super Falcons will play at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on October 26th and 29th, marking their first home matches since the Aisha Buhari Invitational Tournament in 2021. The last time they played a home game prior to that was in 2014 against Cameroon in Abuja.
Madugu’s roster also features several standout local talents, such as Edo Queens’ Comfort Folorunsho and players from the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, showcasing a blend of local and European-based players. Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie from Paris FC and other experienced professionals join forces with younger stars in this balanced squad.
The Algerian team will arrive in Lagos on Wednesday for the CAF-sanctioned matches, with officials from Benin Republic set to oversee both games. These matches offer the home-based Super Falcons a chance to shine on the international stage, with Ajibade and Monday expected to lead in the absence of Oshoala and Alozie.
In the absence of Oshoala and Alozie, Gift Monday and Rasheedat Ajibade will lead a home-based Super Falcons squad, blending local talents with experienced European-based players for their Algeria friendlies.
