Frank Lampard has backed Pedro Neto to earn a starting spot in Chelsea’s lineup after their 2-1 loss to Liverpool. Despite the defeat, Lampard praised Neto’s impact after coming on at halftime, replacing Jadon Sancho. Chelsea had drawn level briefly through Nicolas Jackson’s goal before Curtis Jones scored the winner for Liverpool.

Lampard highlighted how Neto added dynamism to Chelsea’s attack in the second half and should be given a chance to start the next match. He also acknowledged Chelsea’s overall performance, suggesting they showed promise, particularly in maintaining control despite not creating many clear-cut chances. While the defeat was disappointing, Lampard believes Chelsea are moving in the right direction under manager Enzo Maresca, who needs more time to develop his young squad.

Reflecting on the defeat, Lampard said Chelsea had moments of control but lacked sharpness in key areas. He emphasized the importance of patience and stability for Maresca, who is still implementing his possession-based system.
