Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface was absent from Bayer Leverkusen’s training session on Monday following a serious car accident over the weekend. Boniface had played a crucial role in Leverkusen’s recent victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring the decisive goal that secured the win.

Tragically, Boniface was involved in a car crash on Saturday night, but fortunately, he did not suffer any major injuries—only two minor injuries to his left hand. However, the accident resulted in significant financial loss, estimated at close to €200,000 (₦355 million), as reported by Bild.

Images shared by softfootball.com on Sunday showed Boniface in the hospital, raising concerns about his availability for Bayer Leverkusen’s upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Brest.

As confirmed by Bild, Boniface’s absence from Monday’s training suggests he may need a brief recovery period. If he is also absent from training on Tuesday, it could mean he will not be able to play against Brest. However, there is hope that the Nigeria international will be fit in time for Leverkusen’s Bundesliga clash against Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion on Saturday.
