While he appreciates the potential of players like Mikel Merino, Declan Rice, and Thomas Partey, he believes a more attacking midfield trio could have been beneficial against Bournemouth.
Goals from Ryan Christie and Justin Kluivert in the second half sealed a loss for Arteta’s side, who played with ten men after William Saliba received a red card for a foul on Evanilson.
This defeat marked Arsenal’s third dismissal in a short Premier League campaign, leaving them four points behind league leaders Liverpool.
Despite the setback, Gibbs remains optimistic about Arsenal’s prospects, particularly with key players Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard nearing returns.
He emphasized the need for the team to capitalize on their opportunities, stating, “I think it’s going to still be wide open throughout this whole season.”
Looking ahead, Arsenal will aim to bounce back in their upcoming Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk.
