Manchester United’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town at Old Trafford had no shortage of talking points, but one of the biggest came from Alejandro Garnacho’s frustration at being subbed off in the first half. Manager Ruben Amorim confirmed he would speak with the young winger about his reaction after the game.

The match saw an intense opening as Matthijs de Ligt put United ahead, capitalizing on Sam Morsy’s own goal. However, a blunder from Andre Onana gifted Ipswich an equalizer before Jaden Philogene struck his second of the night.

A major turning point came when Patrick Dorgu was shown a straight red for a reckless challenge on Omari Hutchinson just before halftime.

With United down to ten men, Amorim made a tactical change, sacrificing Garnacho for Noussair Mazraoui. The Argentine stormed straight down the tunnel, later hinting at his frustration with a cryptic Instagram post.

Amorim downplayed the incident in his post-match press conference, joking about the cold weather but confirmed he would speak with Garnacho about it privately.

The second half saw United regain control, with Harry Maguire heading in the decisive goal in the 47th minute. Despite the early struggles, Amorim praised his team’s resilience, stating that their fight and determination secured the crucial three points.

Addressing the red card, Amorim defended Dorgu, emphasizing that the youngster is still developing and remains ready for the Premier League. While acknowledging the mistake, he dismissed concerns about the defender’s inexperience, citing his strong performance against Everton the previous week.

This isn’t the first time Garnacho has found himself at odds with Amorim. Back in December, he was dropped from the squad for a match against Manchester City alongside Marcus Rashford due to poor training performances. Amorim brushed off comparisons to that incident but confirmed he would discuss the latest situation in the next press conference.

Despite the off-field drama, United’s hard-fought win lifted them to 14th in the table, keeping their European qualification hopes alive.
