Roy Keane aimed a sarcastic dig at Trent Alexander-Arnold, questioning the Liverpool star’s defensive reliability after he was substituted late in the 2-1 win over Chelsea.

Despite being praised for his performance, particularly in nullifying Jadon Sancho, Keane pointed out that head coach Arne Slot replaced him in the 81st minute, suggesting it was a sign of distrust.

Keane commented, “Everyone thought Trent was brilliant defensively, but the manager took him off with ten minutes to go. That’s a great message—‘We really trust you defensively.'”

Alexander-Arnold’s potential first-half foul on Sancho stirred controversy, but both Gary Neville and former referee Dermot Gallagher felt it wasn’t enough to warrant a penalty.

Meanwhile, pundit Glenn Murray believes Slot’s tactics have improved Alexander-Arnold’s defensive game, making it more suited to his style.
