Mason Mount has found himself at the center of criticism from Manchester United fans after being spotted partying with former Chelsea teammates while still recovering from injury. The 26-year-old midfielder left Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford in 2023, having played a crucial role in Chelsea’s 2021 Champions League triumph.

Since his move to United, Mount’s time has been marred by persistent injuries, restricting him to just 13 starts across all competitions. Despite his struggles, manager Ruben Amorim remains a strong supporter of the Englishman. However, Mount has been sidelined since mid-December, and there is still no clear date for his return.

A private reunion of Chelsea’s Champions League-winning squad recently took place, with images surfacing online. Among those present were Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, Ben Chilwell—currently on loan at Crystal Palace—and Arsenal midfielder Jorginho. Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, who led them to European success, also attended.

Chelsea fans were thrilled to see their former stars back together, with many expressing nostalgia. One fan wrote, “We need them all back,” while another specifically highlighted Mount, saying, “Oh my God, Mason, I miss him most.” The warm reception from Chelsea fans, however, was not echoed by United supporters.

Frustration among United fans has been growing, especially after their FA Cup exit to Fulham. Seeing Mount celebrating with his old teammates only fueled their disappointment. One fan criticized the timing, stating, “After barely playing for two years at United, this isn’t a good look.” Another wrote, “Dock his wages,” showing their anger at the situation.

Many questioned Mount’s commitment, pointing out his ongoing injury struggles. “We’re paying £250k per week for a player who’s out partying instead of focusing on recovery,” one fumed. Some also noted that Luke Shaw, another injured player, has yet to feature this year, adding to concerns over fitness issues within the squad.

United boss Amorim, who took charge in November, has continued to back Mount, emphasizing his belief in the midfielder’s talent. “I love that kid,” Amorim said previously. “You can see in his eyes that he wants this so bad. That’s the most important thing for me.”

Despite his long spell on the sidelines, Amorim sees Mount as a key part of his future plans. “He played in this system before, so it’s perfect for him,” the manager explained. “I have two positions for Mason Mount, so he should be very happy!” However, with fan frustration mounting, Mount will need to return to the pitch and prove his worth soon.
