Newcastle United fans have reason to be optimistic as Alexander Isak was seen in training on Wednesday, just days after limping off during the FA Cup defeat to Brighton. The Swedish forward’s availability for the upcoming Premier League clash against West Ham remains uncertain, but his presence in training suggests he could be fit in time for Monday’s match.

Isak, who recently recovered from a groin issue, started against Brighton and put Newcastle ahead from the penalty spot before being substituted in the 86th minute due to discomfort. Manager Eddie Howe downplayed concerns after the match, explaining that the decision to withdraw him was precautionary.

Newcastle have faced a difficult period with injuries, losing Lewis Hall for the season and Sven Botman requiring knee surgery. Anthony Gordon is also set to miss the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool due to suspension.

The 25-year-old, who has netted 22 goals in 31 games this season, was seen performing ball-control drills and running exercises at Newcastle’s Darsley Park training ground. Although he had heavy strapping on his right knee, this has been a common sight throughout the campaign and isn’t considered a major concern.

Howe is expected to provide a final update on Isak’s fitness in his pre-match press conference on Friday. With Newcastle eager to bounce back from two defeats in their last three league games, all eyes will be on whether their star striker is ready to lead the line at the London Stadium.
