Enzo Maresca has addressed speculation surrounding Nicolas Jackson’s potential early return from injury after the striker posted a cryptic update on social media.
Chelsea suffered a significant setback in February when Jackson was sidelined with a hamstring injury, ruling him out until April. The 23-year-old has missed five matches since, with his absence impacting the team’s attacking play.
Jackson has been a key figure for Chelsea this season, contributing nine goals and five assists in 23 Premier League games. Christopher Nkunku has stepped in as his replacement but has faced criticism for inconsistent performances, particularly against Brighton.

Some believe Jackson’s injury has also contributed to Cole Palmer’s dip in form. With Chelsea preparing to face Leicester City, Maresca provided an update on Jackson’s recovery in his pre-match press conference.
When asked about Jackson’s Instagram post, which showed him training in Chelsea’s gym, Maresca acknowledged his progress but dismissed talk of an early return. He confirmed that Jackson had started running outdoors but reiterated that he remains on track for a post-international break return.
While Jackson is still sidelined, Maresca shared positive news on other injured players. Wesley Fofana has returned to full training and is available for selection, while Benoit Badiashile and Romeo Lavia have also resumed training, though Lavia remains some distance from full fitness.

Maresca is also optimistic about Malo Gusto’s recovery after the defender was forced off against Copenhagen. He revealed that Gusto could be available for Sunday’s match against Leicester, depending on his condition before kickoff.
