West Brom aim to extend unbeaten run against Hull

West Bromwich Albion will aim to extend their impressive five-game unbeaten run when they face Hull City at the Hawthorns on Saturday. The Baggies have enjoyed strong form on home turf, while Hull arrive with renewed confidence after collecting seven points from their last three outings.

West Brom currently sit fifth in the Championship table with 13 wins, 17 draws, and seven losses from 37 matches. Despite struggling away from home, the Baggies have been dominant at the Hawthorns, winning four of their last five matches. Their recent 1-1 draw against Burnley extended their winless away streak to 11 games, but their solid home record keeps them in the playoff race.

The Baggies boast one of the league’s best defensive records at home, conceding just 11 goals in 18 games. They also have an excellent record against Hull City, winning their last seven home league meetings against the Tigers. West Brom will be confident of completing a league double after securing a 2-1 victory in November’s reverse fixture.

Hull City, on the other hand, have found some much-needed momentum in recent weeks. Since losing to Cardiff City in late February, Ruben Selles’s side has gone three games unbeaten, securing victories against Plymouth Argyle and Oxford United, while drawing 1-1 away at Bristol City. Their latest 2-1 win over Oxford lifted them five points clear of the relegation zone.

However, Hull’s away record against West Brom is a cause for concern, with their last victory at the Hawthorns coming in October 2008. Despite this, the Tigers have found the net in each of their last five meetings with the Baggies, which could give them confidence heading into this crucial encounter.

West Brom will be without Semi Ajayi, Jed Wallace, and Josh Maja due to injury, while Darnell Furlong serves the second game of a three-match suspension. Kyle Bartley is hoping to recover from a knee issue, while Jayson Molumby is pushing for a recall after being benched against Burnley.

Hull City will be missing Mohamed Belloumi, Louie Barry, Eliot Matazo, Liam Millar, and Dogukan Sinik due to injury. Joao Pedro remains suspended following his red card against Bristol City, while Gustavo Puerta will also miss out after receiving a late red card against Oxford.

Given West Brom’s strong home form and Hull’s recent upturn in results, this promises to be a competitive clash. However, with the Baggies’ impressive record at the Hawthorns, they are expected to edge out a narrow 2-1 victory.
