Leicester City’s predicted lineup for Man United clash

Ruud van Nistelrooy

Leicester City are set to host Manchester United at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, desperately seeking a win to boost their survival hopes in the Premier League. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side have suffered six consecutive defeats, and the pressure is mounting as they battle relegation.

The Foxes will likely stick with a back-five formation, which showed promise in their narrow defeat to Chelsea last weekend. Danish goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, who saved a penalty from Cole Palmer, is expected to retain his place between the posts.

Leicester face injury concerns, with Harry Souttar and Abdul Fatawu ruled out, while striker Odsonne Edouard remains doubtful. However, Ricardo Pereira made his return from a four-month absence against Chelsea and could feature from the bench again.

Luke Thomas earned praise for his performance last weekend and is set to start on the left of a back three alongside Conor Coady and Wout Faes. Woyo Coulibaly could replace Victor Kristiansen as the right wing-back, with James Justin switching to the left.

In midfield, Wilfred Ndidi and Boubakary Soumare are expected to continue their partnership, providing defensive stability and control in the center of the park. Their role will be crucial in breaking up Manchester United’s attacking play.

Further forward, Bilal El Khannouss and Facundo Buonanotte are likely to support veteran striker Jamie Vardy. With Leicester struggling to create chances in recent weeks, Buonanotte’s creativity could help unlock the United defense.

Leicester will be looking for a more potent attacking display, as Patson Daka and Vardy have rarely started together this season. Van Nistelrooy hopes the experience of Vardy can lead the Foxes to a much-needed victory.

Leicester City’s predicted lineup: Hermansen; Justin, Thomas, Coady, Faes, Coulibaly; Ndidi, Soumare; El Khannouss, Buonanotte; Vardy.
