Bayern Munich, led by Vincent Kompany, will look to rebound from their midweek Champions League defeat to Barcelona as they face VfL Bochum at Vonovia Ruhrstadion on Sunday.

Currently last in the Bundesliga with only one point, managerless Bochum have faced a challenging start to their season, standing six points away from safety after seven matches.

Bayern, meanwhile, lead the league standings with 17 points and remain unbeaten, showcasing their formidable form in the domestic campaign.

Bochum’s recent struggles continued with a 3-1 loss to Hoffenheim, despite generating substantial goal-scoring opportunities.

Despite an impressive xG and numerous chances, Bochum has managed only eight goals this season, the second-lowest in the league.

Following the sacking of Peter Zeidler, interim managers Markus Feldhoff and Murat Ura aim to stabilize the team, which has been winless in its last eight games, losing seven. Bochum’s struggles are evident, with only one home victory in their last nine matches.

On the other hand, Bayern enter the game after a 4-1 loss to Barcelona, with Robert Lewandowski scoring against his former club and Raphinha securing a hat-trick.

Kompany accepted responsibility, conceding that his tactical setup was too aggressive. Despite Champions League setbacks, Bayern remain undefeated in Bundesliga, having faced tough opponents like Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Stuttgart.

Their recent 4-0 victory over Stuttgart, with Harry Kane’s hat-trick, underscores their attacking prowess.

Team News

Bochum’s Manuel Riemann remains sidelined following a club dispute, with Bernardo also out due to injury. Ivan Ordets and Erhan Medic are expected to start in central defense.

Bayern’s lineup will likely be strengthened, with Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae as key defensive choices and Joshua Kimmich partnering Joao Palhinha in midfield.

Aleksandar Pavlovic, Sacha Boey, Hiroki Ito, and Josip Stanisic are unavailable for selection.

Predicted Lineups

  • VfL Bochum: Drewes; Passlack, Medic, Ordets, Masovic, Wittek; De Wit, Losilla, Sissoko; Broschinski, Miyoshi
