Saka shone as he opened Arsenal’s scoring, skillfully controlling a long-range pass from Ben White before maneuvering past Andy Robertson and firing a precise shot past Liverpool’s goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk equalized in the first half, but Mikel Merino restored Arsenal’s lead before the break. Liverpool pushed back in the second half, with Mohamed Salah eventually leveling the score, securing a point for his team.
Reflecting on the game, Slot lauded Arsenal’s tactical flexibility, noting, “Arsenal can constantly surprise with different formations, making it challenging for teams to anticipate their approach.
In the first half, they played with a false No. 9 and stretched their midfielders wide, giving them the upper hand.”
He further acknowledged that Arsenal deserved to lead 2-1 at halftime and highlighted Saka’s quality, particularly in how he managed to keep Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold on the defensive.
Despite Liverpool’s intense second-half performance, Slot acknowledged that Arsenal had a slight advantage with an extra day of recovery after their Champions League match.
