Boniface, who netted the opening goal, was replaced by Patrick Schick in the 70th minute, a decision that visibly irritated the Nigerian striker as he left the pitch.

Despite the reaction, Alonso expressed no concern, attributing Boniface’s response to his competitive spirit.

“Yes, but that’s normal; all players want to keep going,” Alonso told Kicker. He acknowledged Boniface’s goal-scoring performance and added, “He did well, scored a goal, but we needed a bit more energy at that point in the game.”

Alonso also addressed Boniface’s fitness following a recent car accident. “Boni trained well on Friday, so we decided that he would start. Hopefully, the car accident is no longer an issue, and we can talk about football again,” he stated.

This season, Boniface has been in excellent form for Die Werkself, scoring eight goals and providing one assist in 11 appearances across all competitions, further highlighting his importance to the team as they aim for Bundesliga success.
