The Nigerian forward netted two goals, breaking his goal drought and helping Sevilla comfortably advance past their Third Division opponents.
Reflecting on Iheanacho’s form and the challenge of facing lower-division teams, Pimienta commented, “I’ve been a player and I’ve played in these types of matches.
The Third Division opponents give it their all, while First Division teams can struggle to adapt.
Despite all our preparations, some players haven’t seen match action for a while, which adds to the challenge.” He continued, “In the first half, he had limited touches, but he capitalized in the second. He’s been training well, played the full 90 minutes, and scored — we’re pleased with his performance, and we expect to see more improvement.”
Iheanacho’s brace marked a positive turning point since he joined Sevilla on a free transfer this summer, following his departure from Leicester City.
The 28-year-old’s display not only ended his scoring drought but also showed promise for his role in Sevilla’s season.
